Introduction

Next Steps After Scan

So, you've run a ListDefender Scan. What now?

With a ListDefender Scan complete. Here's what you should do:

  1. Update your broadcast lists

Go to your email marketing or CRM system and update your broadcast list(s) to EXCLUDE anyone tagged as red. As a reminder, contacts tagged with “ListDefender: Status = Red (Do Not Send)” are either undeliverable, unengaged or failed your quality checks. It will hurt your deliverability and reputation if you continue to send to these contacts.

  2. Implement Re-engagement Efforts

For contacts tagged with “ListDefender: Status = Yellow (Re-engage)”, we encourage you to add them to an automation or campaign to re-establish engagement. The goal is to rekindle their interest in your organization, products, or services. Most CRMs and email marketing systems look at email ‘opens’ but more specifically at clicks from links within your emails. Therefore, your re-engagement emails should encourage the contact to both open and click a link within the email (to read a blog post, watch a video, download a gift, visit a web page, etc.). A re-engagement series should typically have 3-5 emails over a defined period. (See Mastering Re-engagement Campaigns for more information.)

  3. Set Up FormDefender

Now that your list has been scanned and cleaned, for monthly ListDefender subscribers, you can enable ongoing list protection by protecting your forms from bots and malicious actors. As a monthly subscriber, you can create as many FormDefenders as you want with various levels of protection. At the very least, create a single FormDefender with the default settings, copy the provided code and place it on your pages with lead capture or opt-in forms. FormDefender will monitor your forms 24x7 for misspellings, abusive IP addresses, disposable emails, vulgar and suspicious terms, and more.
